Why do I need a SerpAPI key?

SerpAPI enables automatic image search in BeatOps. When creating thumbnails or cover art, BeatOps can search for relevant images based on your beat's mood, genre, or custom search terms. This saves time finding the perfect visual for your content.

Steps

  1. Create a SerpAPI account
Go to serpapi.com/users/sign_up and create an account. You can sign up with your email, Google account, or GitHub account.
  2. Verify your email
Check your inbox for a verification email from SerpAPI and confirm your email address.
  3. Access your dashboard
Log in and go to serpapi.com/dashboard.
  4. Copy your API key
On the dashboard, you'll see your API key displayed. Click to copy it or select and copy the entire key.
  5. Enter your key in BeatOps
Open BeatOps and go to Settings > API Keys > SerpAPI. Paste your API key and click Save.

Free Tier

SerpAPI offers a free tier with 100 searches per month. This is usually enough for casual use. If you need more searches, SerpAPI offers paid plans with higher limits.

Tip: Each image search in BeatOps uses one search credit. You can track your usage on the SerpAPI dashboard.

Good to know: BeatOps caches search results. If you frequently use the same search queries, your credits will last much longer since cached results don't count against your limit.

Security

Your SerpAPI key is stored encrypted on your local computer. It is never sent to BeatOps servers - searches are made directly from your machine to SerpAPI.
