Solutions for common issues organized by symptom
Check your internet connection. If the connection is stable, try reconnecting the platform account in Settings > Connections.
Check if you've exceeded your API quota. Verify your YouTube API credentials are configured correctly in Settings. See guide.
Sessions expire periodically. Go to Settings > Connections and reconnect BeatStars. This is normal behavior - BeatStars sessions typically last a few hours and need to be refreshed.
Platforms may process videos at lower quality initially. YouTube typically takes several hours to process HD and 4K versions after upload.
Make sure you've set up API credentials first. BeatOps requires YouTube API credentials to upload. See setup guide.
Sessions expire after a few hours. Simply reconnect when prompted in Settings > Connections. This is expected behavior and not a bug.
Try revoking and re-authorizing the connection in Settings > Connections. Click the disconnect button, then reconnect.
Make sure BeatOps is running when you complete the OAuth flow. The browser redirects back to the app, which needs to be open to receive the authorization.
Check that your image source is valid. If using auto image search, make sure you have an internet connection. Try uploading your own image instead.
Large audio files take longer to process. Check that you have sufficient available disk space. Video generation can take 1-2 minutes for longer beats.
You can manually edit the BPM in the beat details. Click on the BPM field to override the detected value.
Make sure your beat has all the required metadata fields filled in. Check that your template syntax is correct (e.g., {{ title }}, {{ bpm }}).
On macOS: Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders (or Full Disk Access) and make sure BeatOps has permission. If your beats folder is on an external drive, eject and reconnect it.
On Windows: Close any programs that might have files open (File Explorer preview pane, media players, DAWs). Right-click your beats folder > Properties > Security, and make sure your user account has Full Control. Antivirus software (Windows Defender, Avast, etc.) can also temporarily lock files - try adding your beats folder to the exclusion list.
BeatOps needs a writable folder for audio previews. This usually happens when the app data directory is on a read-only drive or has restricted permissions.
On macOS: Check that ~/Library/Application Support/BeatOps is accessible. Try removing it and restarting BeatOps - it will be recreated automatically.
On Windows: Check that %APPDATA%\BeatOps exists and is writable. You can find this by pressing Win+R and typing %APPDATA%\BeatOps.
The beat folder exists but BeatOps can't read its contents. This is common when:
On Windows: The folder is inside a system-protected location (Documents, Desktop) and Windows has restricted access. Move your beats folder to a non-protected location like D:\Beats or C:\Music\Beats.
On macOS: Grant BeatOps Full Disk Access in System Settings > Privacy & Security, or move your beats folder out of a protected location like Desktop or Documents.
Stems ZIP files can be large. Make sure you have at least 500MB of free disk space. If the error mentions "permission denied", see the access denied solution above.
Another application has a file open in the beat folder. Close your DAW, media player, or File Explorer preview pane, then try again. On Windows, you can use Task Manager to check which process has the file locked.
Try restarting your computer. Check that your system meets the minimum requirements. If the issue persists, contact support.
All your data is stored locally on your computer. BeatOps runs 100% locally - your beats and metadata never leave your machine except when you explicitly upload to platforms. Read our Privacy Policy.
BeatOps will notify you when updates are available. You can also check for updates in Settings > About.
Most features work offline except for uploads, auto image search, and API credential setup. You can generate content offline and upload later when you have internet.
