Folder Structure

Overview

BeatOps scans a single "beats folder" that you set in Settings. Each subfolder inside it is one beat. BeatOps reads each subfolder to detect the audio, images, and stems. This page is about the folders. For how each audio file is sorted into a role (main, tagged, short, stem), see Audio Files.

Import from the app (no manual folders needed)

You do not have to build folders in Finder or Explorer first. From the dashboard or the Beats page you can drag a beat folder, or loose files, straight into the app. You can also click Add beat files to pick them.

• Drag a whole folder: it becomes one beat, keeping its name.
• Drag loose files (a WAV, or a few stems): BeatOps makes a subfolder for you and puts them in it.
• On a beat's own page you can add more files to that beat (stems, a tagged MP3, a stems ZIP).
• Everything you import is copied into your beats folder, so the folder stays the single source of truth.

Note: drag and drop needs the desktop app. In a browser, use the button.

How Beats Are Detected

• Each subfolder that contains an audio file (MP3 or WAV) becomes one beat in the library
• Folders with no audio file are skipped, so notes, artwork, or tooling folders are not added as empty beats
• The folder name is used as the beat title if no parseable audio filenames are found
• Audio files, images, and stems inside the folder are automatically detected
• Nested subfolders (like stems/) are scanned for stem files only

Wrong file in a beat?

BeatOps guesses each file's role from its name, so it is not always right. On the beat's page you can set the role of any audio file by hand, or mark a file to ignore if it does not belong. See Audio Files.

Tips

• Keep one beat per folder for clean organization
• Use descriptive folder names as a fallback for beat titles
• Include both WAV and MP3 versions for maximum platform compatibility
• Only include exportable files (final audio, images, stems), not project files or work in progress. If a stray file slips in, mark it as ignored on the beat's page.
