BeatOps makes a video for every format you upload, from your thumbnail and your audio. A video template decides how the video moves. You can also use videos you made yourself.

Video Formats

Format Size Used for Audio
Canvas (16:9) 1920x1080 YouTube The full beat
Vertical (9:16) 1080x1920 YouTube Shorts Your Short (see Audio Files)
Square (1:1) 1080x1080 Optional, for social posts The full beat

BeatOps makes the canvas video when YouTube is one of your platforms, and the vertical video when Shorts is. The square video is off by default, because it takes extra time and disk space. Turn it on in Process & Upload when you want one.

How the Video Looks

Your template set picks a video template for each format:

  • Still thumbnail: your thumbnail as the video, with no motion
  • Auto: a look picked for each beat from its mood
  • A preset or your own template: a moving look like Halo, Cinematic or Tape, with your own title, badge, colours and watermark

Before a run with new images or moving videos starts, BeatOps shows a preview on your beat, so you can change the look first. You can turn this preview off.

Moving videos are rendered on your graphics card. On a Mac with an M2 Pro, a 3-minute beat takes about 1 to 1.5 minutes. If your computer cannot render the moving video in time, or the render fails, BeatOps makes a still video instead. Your upload does not stop because of the video.

Outdated Videos

A video is made from your images. When you make new images for a beat, the old videos no longer match. BeatOps notices this and asks if you want to make the videos again before you upload.

Custom Videos

Made your own video? Put it in the beat folder as an .mp4 file that ends with _canvas, _vertical or _square:

Moonlight_canvas.mp4
Moonlight_vertical.mp4
Moonlight_square.mp4

BeatOps then uses your file for that format.
