When you connect
Connecting asks for two permissions only:
youtube.upload
Why needed: Upload your beat videos to your channel and set custom thumbnails. This is the core feature.
youtube.readonly
Why needed: Show your channel name when you connect, list your playlists, verify the connection with "Test Connection", and check scheduled upload dates so BeatOps can spread uploads across days. Read-only: it cannot change anything.
When you pick a playlist
The first time you choose a YouTube playlist for a template set, BeatOps asks for one more permission:
youtube.force-ssl
Why needed: Add your uploaded videos to the playlist you pick. Google labels this permission as "view, edit and permanently delete your videos", which sounds alarming. BeatOps only uses it to add a video to your chosen playlist. It never edits or deletes anything. BeatOps asks for it separately, and only when you use playlists, so you are never shown it just to connect.
When you open Analytics
The first time you open the Analytics page, BeatOps asks for one read-only permission:

Why needed: Read the view, watch time, and engagement data for the videos BeatOps uploaded, so it can show your analytics. Read-only: it cannot change anything.
What BeatOps Cannot Do
YouTube warns that the playlist permission allows viewing, editing, and deleting videos, playlists, subscriptions, comments, and more. While the permission technically allows these actions, BeatOps only uses it to add videos to the playlist you pick. BeatOps will not:
- Access your YouTube viewing history or watch time
- Access your subscriptions or liked videos
- Access your comments or community posts
- Access videos from other creators
- Access your Google account data beyond YouTube
- Delete your videos
- Edit existing videos (title, description, tags, etc.)
- Delete playlists
- View, add, or remove your subscriptions
- Rate videos (like or dislike)
- Post, edit, or delete comments
- Edit or delete captions
- Change your channel settings
Revoking Access
You can revoke BeatOps' access at any time via Settings > YouTube > Disconnect, or through your Google Security Settings.
